Description

Neuchâtel, February 2012. The Neuchâtel-based brand developed its expertise deep in the heart of the Jurassian arc and is now proud to present for the first time in Switzerland, the Metropolis collection. The name is inspired by Fritz Lang's cult movie and the description applied to the city of La Chaux-de-Fonds, included in the UNESCO World Heritage List since June 2009.

The C.O.S.C. certified Metropolis Type-M3 chronometer, like the other Type-M1 and M2 in the family, celebrates the contemporary and embraces the eternal. The ultra-complex cases, which like most of the watch components, hails from Swiss industrial territory. It enhances a design that combines affordability and elegance. Natural shapes such as square, circular or oval, slender lines and curves without beginning or end. Like the sleek highways of an urban metropolis suspended in time, herald the coming of a new era of inescapable truths, a return to watch making basics and a projection beyond time itself. Gergé Swiss Timepieces and the Metropolis Collection also deliver another promise: to uphold the age-old values of a watch making industry born essentially of Jurassian soil, from the coast through the mountains of Neuchâtel to the outer reaches of the Jura. It is to this land of expertise, overflowing with sites of interest for watch making technology and precision industries in the perpetual pursuit of the perfectible, that the timepiece attributes the subtlety of its finishes, such as the unusual vertical lines of its guilloché Côte de Genève decoration on a dial accented with luminescent marker.

The 45mm diameter timepiece houses the workshop-crafted 13 ¼ “ Concepto 2021 caliber with automatic winding. It is water-resistant to 100 meters, and apart from a variety of chronograph functions operated by a mono-pusher, also boasts a date feature between 4 and 5 o'clock, a power reserve of 46 hours and a chronometer certificate awarded by the Official Swiss Chronometer Testing Institute (C.O.S.C).
