Sport Auto 79
Power reserve: 72 h, 28800 vph
The Sport Auto 79 commemorates a defining moment in Laurent Ferrier’s history: third place at the 1979 Le Mans 24 Hours, where the brand’s founders first dreamt of creating a watchmaking maison rooted in tradition, passion, and elegance. Released for Laurent Ferrier’s 15th anniversary, this edition symbolises not only that understated victory but the genesis of the brand itself.
Entirely crafted in 5N red gold, including the 41.5 mm case and integrated bracelet, the watch features a cushion-shaped bezel and barrel-shaped middle case, inspired by automotive aerodynamics. The cream-coloured dial, with its opaline finish and silver-rose galvanic treatment, reflects the founders’ humility. Powder grey transfers, a snailed small seconds at 6 o’clock, and a bevelled date aperture at 3 o’clock ensure refined legibility, while the Assegai-shaped hands and indices in 5N red gold are enhanced with white Super-LumiNova®.
Inside beats the LF270.01 calibre, a self-winding micro-rotor movement developed, assembled, and hand-finished in the Geneva workshops. It offers a 72-hour power reserve and features a platinum 950 rotor laser-engraved with subtle references to the 1979 race. The ruthenium-treated bridges, hand-polished bevels, and intricate interior angles highlight the exceptional craftsmanship executed entirely in-house.
The Sport Auto 79 is more than a tribute to motor racing; it celebrates courage, determination, and the personal reward of turning passion into reality.
