AEK Genève
The Brand’s Origins
Founded in Genève by Amir Enver Kurucu, AEK Genève emerged from a clear desire within contemporary watchmaking: to create a human-scale maison, free from seasonal trends or marketing dictates, where each watch embodies an intention, a memory, a chapter.
Rather than following the industrial rhythm of collections, AEK Genève adopts an organic cadence : one shaped by the creative process itself, by Amir’s impulses, and by the ongoing evolution of horology.
At its core lies a founding idea: to merge the Swiss tradition of artisanal excellence with a contemporary, sensitive, almost literary, vision of time. Here, the timepiece becomes a language, a discreet and enduring medium for storytelling. It is in this spirit that Sablier, the first model from AEK Genève, was conceived.
Sablier - A Chapter to Wear
The AEK 001 – Sablier introduces AEK’s horological universe with a foundational piece. Inspired by one of the oldest instruments for measuring time, the hourglass, this watch offers a different relationship to time: not as a linear flow, but as a circular, silent, and personal moment. This creation seeks to awaken in its wearer a calm and lasting relationship with passing time, one centered on what truly matters. Its design purposefully breaks away from spectacle, choosing instead to focus on balance, materiality, and detail.
Design & Aesthetics
The sunray blue dial captures light and transforms depending on the viewing angle. At its center rests the AEK Genève emblem, while the maison’s name is subtly engraved between the straight lugs of the case. The applied hour markers are coated in blue Luminova, offering understated legibility. Everything is protected by a sapphire crystal.
Movement & Rotor
The watch is powered by the Swiss ETA 2824-2 automatic movement, renowned for its reliability and robustness. Visible through the sapphire caseback, it is enhanced by a custom oscillating weight engraved with the AEK Genève name and the brand’s hourglass motif. Its blued finish echoes the dial, creating visual and aesthetic harmony. But this choice is more than decorative, it is narrative, linking the front and back of the watch in a closed cycle, like the hourglass itself.
Case & Strap
The 316L stainless steel case strikes a refined balance between robustness and discretion. The folding clasp continues this duality: engraved on the outer face is the AEK Genève name, visible to the world, while the inner face conceals the hourglass silhouette, imagined as a personal secret to be discovered against the skin. Every design choice is made to elevate the intimate experience of the wearer.
An Embodied Philosophy
Sablier does not seek to dazzle through ostentation, but to endure through precision. It embodies Amir’s philosophy:
Create little, but create well. Reveal the essential, hide as much as you show. Make each watch a chapter in a story. An object of active contemplation, crafted for use, legacy, and memory.
