Leap year indication
NAOYA HIDA & Co. watches were born in Japan from a desire to create modern vintage timepieces unlike anything seen before. We pursue this vision by combining the meticulous handcraftsmanship of skilled artisans with state-of-the-art microfabrication technologies.
The NH TYPE6A was conceived from our aspiration to create a perpetual calendar inspired by vintage models—one that is not only beautifully three-dimensional, but also exceptionally legible. The Roman numerals on the dial, along with the sub-dials for day, date, month, and leap year, are all carefully hand-engraved by master engraver Keisuke Kano. Following the engraving process, the numerals are filled with a black artificial lacquer known as urushi, a traditional Japanese material. This process results in numerals that appear three-dimensional, enhanced by the interplay of deep engraving shadows and urushi’s subtle reflections.
Additionally, the dial of the NH TYPE6A is the first to be crafted from Argentium silver, giving it a radiant, luminous tone that elevates both aesthetic appeal and legibility.
The hand-wound perpetual calendar movement, Cal.3025PC, was developed through a collaboration between Dubois-Depraz of Switzerland, Habring2 of Austria, and NAOYA HIDA & Co. in Tokyo. We sourced the perpetual calendar module from Dubois-Depraz and components of the A11B base movement from Habring2, then combined them with our own proprietary bridges, click springs, screws, and other parts to complete the Cal.3025PC.
