MAXIMA GR8 — The Perfect Homothety of Time

A new clarity in contemporary watchmaking architecture

With the MAXIMA GR8, KERBEDANZ offers a resolutely contemporary reading of time. Where the MAXIMUS evoked ancient grandeur through the monumentality of its tourbillon, the MAXIMA GR8 distills that essence into a purer, more streamlined form—unisex and forward-looking.

Its GR8 case, sculpted from a single block of monocrystalline sapphire, embodies absolute transparency, magnifying every mechanical detail and revealing a rigorously symmetrical layout. The movement’s architecture, conceived as an internal homothety, ensures perfect readability of volumes and a finely controlled visual tension.

Only one element disrupts this calculated symmetry: the off-centered rose gold rotor, whose subtle imbalance gives the piece an organic rhythm. This intentional offset introduces nuance, rhythm, and discreet singularity—a hallmark of a design that blends discipline, audacity, and sensitivity.

A crystalline architecture like no other

The GR8 case embodies a bold geometric synthesis, fusing three horological archetypes—the tonneau, the octagon, and the sphere—into a sculptural form of rare coherence. Fully machined from a single block of monocrystalline sapphire—one of the hardest and most demanding materials to work with—it offers absolute transparency onto the dial and the movement’s mechanical construction.

Each surface, every edge is cut with optical precision: it captures, diffracts, and modulates light depending on the viewing angle, like a finely faceted gemstone. This orchestrated play of reflections enhances the watch’s three-dimensional reading.

A true technical feat, the case’s production requires over 80 hours of high-precision diamond machining and polishing. The integrated lugs, shaped as a seamless extension of the sapphire, create a fluid transition to the strap, with no material break or metal insert—a demanding choice that reinforces both the visual and technical integrity of the whole.

A 1-minute central tourbillon — The living heart of time

Positioned at the absolute center of the dial, the tourbillon cage dominates the space like a pulsing organ. It completes a full rotation every 60 seconds—a deliberately accelerated cadence compared to the original MAXIMUS GR8, whose tourbillon rotated every 6 minutes. This rapid rhythm is not merely a kinetic performance—it is a horological response to the acceleration of our world, a reflection of an era in perpetual motion.

Thanks to the total transparency of the monocrystalline sapphire, the mechanical spectacle is revealed from every angle: from the front, above, or in profile, the eye is granted unimpeded access to the breathing of the balance, the smooth rotation of the cage, and the subtle coordination of components. Every oscillation becomes visible, each detail part of a living stage set for the regulation of time.

By occupying the center, the tourbillon becomes more than a regulator—it becomes the axis, the vortex, the visual gravity. Everything organizes itself around it. It does not just measure time—it embodies it.

An exceptional automatic movement powered by two barrels

At the heart of the MAXIMA GR8 beats a bespoke automatic caliber, developed to meet the technical and aesthetic demands of this extraordinary architecture. Power is delivered by two barrels mounted in parallel, providing a 65-hour power reserve. This configuration optimizes torque stability to the central flying tourbillon, ensuring exemplary rate regularity.

The transparent caseback reveals a mechanical signature as poetic as it is unique: an off-centered rose gold rotor. This deliberate asymmetry breaks the symmetry to introduce an unexpected visual dynamic—a subtle tribute to avant-garde watchmaking codes and to the creative freedom cherished by KERBEDANZ.

Here, form and function are not simply juxtaposed—they are interwoven with precision. The MAXIMA GR8 transcends the traditional notion of a timepiece. It becomes a manifesto of emotional engineering—a horological sculpture meant for those who seek to feel time in its materiality, in its movement, in its very presence.

MAXIMA GR8. Where the tourbillon accelerates, where light bends, where crystal shelters eternity.
More than a timepiece, the MAXIMA GR8 is a radical horological proposition. It masterfully combines high-precision mechanics, groundbreaking crystalline architecture, and disruptive aesthetics—defying conventions without denying them.

Every detail is conceived as a tension between discipline and freedom, between geometry and light, between gravity and transparency. The result: a wearable, immersive work that celebrates movement in all its dimensions—technical, visual, and emotional.

With this creation, KERBEDANZ delivers a vibrant tribute to the purest offering of contemporary watchmaking: the mastery of time as matter, and its metamorphosis into a work of art.

MAXIMA GR8. A timepiece that hides nothing, withholds nothing, but reveals time in its most exact nakedness.

High-precision mechanics, disruptive aesthetics, a vibrant homage to the beauty of movement.
