Solar terms, the Big Dipper
Sea-Gull integrates the wisdom of the modern Chinese calendar into the Lunar and Stellar Glow. The watch indicates the seasons and solar terms by the rotating Big Dipper, presenting the solar calendar. At the same time, it displays the lunar calendar with an accurate representation of the moon phase, carefully and visually interpreting the unique system of the Chinese lunisolar calendar.
The Big Dipper is located near the North Pole and can be seen in the northern hemisphere all year round. It has played a significant role in the entire history of China and is also of great importance in other civilizations around the world. The rotating dial uses the last star of the Big Dipper to indicate the date, month, and the 24 Chinese solar terms, among which the equinoxes and solstices are highlighted. The fluorescent seven stars glow in the night, echoing the constellation in the sky, helping people identify directions, determine seasons, and track time as it did throughout Chinese history.
The moon phase is carefully created to highly restore the texture of the moon surface. Through the 12 o'clock window, the vivid moon phase clearly showcases the accurate gibbous phases that occur during half of the lunar cycle. The Moon Rabbit, which is closely associated with the moon in traditional Chinese stories, can be seen during the new and full moon phases.
Another unique feature of the watch is that, through a clever interactive manner, the owner can obtain the real-time position of the Big Dipper in the sky by the crown at 10 o'clock. This makes the watch not only a tool for measuring time, but also a bridge allowing the owner to communicate with the universe and experience the profound wisdom of "harmony between man and nature" in traditional Chinese culture.
The watch is equipped with the in-house ST2184 automatic movement. The case is made of titanium and features a dome-shaped glass. Every detail pays tribute to the mysteries of astronomy.
