Face of TASAKI (Black Mother of Pearl)

A celebration of TASAKI’s singular artistry and relationship with nature, the FACE OF TASAKI watch draws its inspiration from the distinctive grid-like geometry of our pearl farms—floating structures that echo the rhythm and discipline of our cultivation process. This elegant mosaic of rectangles becomes the foundation for the timepiece’s refined, architectural form: a slim, hand-finished rectangular case with angled lugs and elongated proportions, embodying both technical precision and poetic subtlety.
At the heart of the watch is a bespoke, self-winding mechanical movement—the FK:μ:T001 calibre—conceived specifically for TASAKI by Fiona Krüger. Developed on a custom micro-mechanical base, this rectangular movement features a mosaic arrangement of hand-finished bridges, each shaped and decorated to reflect the structure of our pearl farms. Brushed in multiple directions and enhanced with a laser-engraved pattern, the bridges interact with light like the surface of the sea.
The dial is composed of two parts: a fixed upper dial and a visible dial-side rotor that animates the face as the watch is worn. Cut from a single piece of natural mother-of-pearl, these two elements preserve the continuous grain of the material when at rest. In motion, the rotor spins—gently shifting the lower disc like a "floating pearl"—revealing the iridescent layers of the mother-of-pearl and celebrating its living beauty.
Each model features décalque indices and matte-finished hands in contrasting tones. The watch is paired with a strap made from sustainable apple leather, reflecting TASAKI’s commitment to innovation and ethical sourcing.
