Description

Metrical’s Epiphany Origin is a tribute to humanity’s discovery of time, inspired by the ancient practice of observing celestial shifts across the sky. This watch captures the graceful dance of the sun and moon along the horizon, echoing the earliest methods of timekeeping with poetic elegance.

The dial displays the hours in an aperture in the upper half of the dial, where a sun symbol glides from 6AM to 6PM, pointing to Arabic numerals to mark the hours. As twilight descends, the sun transforms into a moon, guiding the hours from 6PM to 6AM. Minutes are indicated by a slender central hand that sweeps across the dial.

Designed with meticulous detail, the Epiphany Origin showcases a richly textured dial adorned with celestial motifs, polished steel indices, and a brushed chapter ring. A faceted star at the dial’s base serves as a striking focal point. Super-LumiNova coats the celestial elements and hour indices, creating a luminous glow reminiscent of stars in the night sky. The watch case is refined with lugs chamfered on their underside, offering a comfortable fit and a sleek, sophisticated silhouette.

Subtle Christian elements imbue the design with spiritual meaning, honouring God as the creator of time and the cosmos, the very forces that make the art of timekeeping and horology possible. The faceted star at the dial’s base doubles as a star-shaped cross, symbolizing Christ’s foundational role in daily life. On the caseback, an Ichthys symbol (Christian fish symbol) denotes water resistance, accompanied by a Bible verse from the Epiphany, commemorating the Three Magi’s homage to the newborn Jesus Christ. Thus, the watch’s name “Epiphany” reflects two profound meanings: (1) a sudden realization embodied in humanity’s discovery of time through watching the sky and (2) the sacred act of paying homage to the Lord who created time.
