The first ever four-axis tourbillon
There is no other tourbillon like Astronomia Revolution Four-axis Tourbillon. With it, Jacob & Co. broke the final frontier of watchmaking. Astronomia Revolution Four-axis Tourbillon is a unique accomplishment in watchmaking. And not just because of the unprecedented number of axes of its tourbillon.
Its movement is vertical and spins like a carousel. Jacob & Co. gave it one full rotation in 60 seconds. The entire movement is the seconds hand. That's Astronomia Revolution Four-axis Tourbillon's first axis.
The other 3 axes are located within the tourbillon carriage, like a more traditional triple-axis tourbillon. Each one rotates at extremely high speed : 60, 18 and 24 seconds per cycle. This carriage is hanging at the tip of a rotating arm, like a flying tourbillon. On the other arm is an always-upright hour and minute dial.
The energy required to power Astronomia Revolution Four-axis Tourbillon needs to be tamed before it reaches the escapement. It's just too powerful for the delicate regulating system. So Jacob & Co. has developed a unique constant force mechanism, located just before the escapement, inside the tourbillon carriage. It's the remontoire with the fastest speed ever made: it reloads every 1/6th of a second, at the same rate as the escapement.
The Jacob & Co. Astronomia Revolution Four-axis Tourbillon is a four-axis, flying, full movement rotation, high-speed carriage, constant force tourbillon. It is definitely the only one of its kind.
