Ariadne Black Sapphire
Power reserve: 48 h, 28800 vph
The new release of the famous Ariadne model, reference CKAR33S4 has some new features. The watch is in the same steel case with the same functions, namely; time, triple-calendar, 24h indicator and a chronograph and moon phase (based on Valjoux 7751).
We have changed the look of the watch from a rather classic design, to a more fresh interpretation; the dial is made from Sapphire and has a black-smoke hue to it. With this see-trough dial, one can admire the movement below, including the discs of the calendar and the moon phase.
Besides the special dial, we have changed the day- and month disc as well. Instead of the standard calendar discs, this model features a black background with SuperLumiNova (SLN) text printing. The moon phase disc has a black background instead of dark blue, to match the overall design, and is also filled with a SLN moon.
To further emphasize the SLN theme we also have made the chronograph-seconds hand and the tip of the date-pointer also with SLN. (see picture below)
The rotor on the movement is made by German hand-engraver Jochen Benzinger, a craftsman that is already working with Christiaan van der Klaauw for decades.
The watch is fitted with a FKM (rubber) strap, which is designed and stitched to resemble a traditional leather strap, but in a more sportive way.
