Pontos Décentrique Phases de Lune, Limited Edition

Mechanical and architectural

A contemporary design to structure time. An architectural technological case. An innovative mechanism expressed in a non-conformist display. The Pontos Décentrique Phases de Lune undeniably sets a style. Produced in a limited edition of 500 watches, it blends refinement with originality without the slightest loss of legibility.

Right from the start, the Pontos “décentrique” family has asserted its intention of liberating itself from the preconceptions of classical watchmaking to show the difference. The breakaway is now complete: a worthy descendant of the Pontos Décentrique GMT model launched in 2006, this new moon-phase timepiece proclaims its individuality in its turn.

This piece is characterized by daring combined with order, making the principles of modern architecture its emblematic signature. The presentation is rigorously off-center. Indications meekly based on the center of the dial are left behind: here, time is set free from convention and regally occupies space, drawing the eye to 10 o'clock, 4 o'clock or 6 o'clock, according to the information sought.

Protected by a sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coatings on both sides, the face of the Pontos Décentrique Phases de Lune is a theater in ceaseless revolution. The first scene is played out at 10 o'clock on an off-center dial: a single, solo hand tracks the minutes, while the slower hours appear gradually on a disk. Opposite, at 4 o'clock, two superimposed disks dance a highly sophisticated waltz: one, in metallized sapphire, unveils the phases and age of the moon; the other, positioned below it and connected directly to the hours disk, bears the day/night indication. Meanwhile, the date indication at 6 o'clock competes for stardom: inscribed on a disk driven by a special, internally developed transfer system, it is revealed to the light of day in a window of metallized glass. This module is the subject of a patent application.

Built on several different levels, the dial is made in a single piece by hot-forming technology; the relief hierarchizes interpretation and highlights the information without overloading or confusion. The slender outline of the diamond-studded markers and the luminous components provide a striking contrast with the velvety texture of the black dial.

A sculptural case 45 mm in diameter encloses the self-winding ML122 mechanical movement. Cut from titanium, it is given a special anti-fingermarking treatment and a discreet sand-blasted finish which underlines its forceful architecture.

Visually remarkable, mechanically innovative and technologically contemporary, the Pontos Décentrique Phases de Lune manifests a personality like no other. It is imbued with the codes of architecture and design to shape time to an unexpected, post-modernist profile.
