Inspiration

On July 20, 1969, the Apollo 11 spacecraft successfully landed on the moon and Neil Armstrong took “one small step for a man, one giant leap for mankind”. Fifty years later, Swiss watchmaker RJ pays tribute to the Apollo 11 mission and to the astronauts who first walked on the lunar surface with a new DNA concept timepiece. The ARRAW 6919 Titanium is made with authentic material sourced from the original Apollo 11 spacecraft and features RJ’s first in-house moon phase movement. From the moon to the wrist, the ARRAW 6919 Titanium will inspire anyone who is fascinated by science, mechanics and the vast universe of space.

Unique material

The Apollo 11 spacecraft material is encased within a super light, high-performance composite created by RJ specifically for the ARRAW 6919 collection, and forms the timepiece’s bezel. The design of the metal grid that fastens the composite bezel to the case securely was inspired by the Apollo 11 command module. Limited to only 100 pieces, each ARRAW 6919 Titanium comes with a certificate issued with the Association of Space Explorers guaranteeing the authenticity of the Apollo 11 mission material.

The 360º moon phase mechanism

The SW-280 mechanical self-winding movement has been modified by RJ engineers to accommodate the patented RJ moon phase mechanism that shows a three-dimensional moon rotating 360° during a complete cycle of 29.5 days. The hour and minute indications at the center of the dial also indicate the location of the Earth. All settings (time, moon phase indication, and date) are done via the crown. The date set at 3 o’clock can be read with +4/-4 when the moon is between the gibbous moon and the first crescent. The new moon phase mechanism within the 45 mm titanium-cased ARRAW 6919 marks a significant step forward in RJ’s evolution as the brand’s first in-house movement.

ARRAW characteristics

The ARRAW 6919 Titanium comes with a waterproof polyamide strap engraved with linear designs that recall the pattern made in the powdery lunar surface by Armstrong’s spacesuit when he first stepped onto the moon. Even with a new design, the watch remains identifiable as an ARRAW model thanks to the ingenious interchangeable strap system as well as the iconic rubber RJ Bumpers™.
