Concept & Vision
Blackout Watches was born from a simple conviction: to bring new alternatives to the watchmaking landscape — a landscape already well represented at the very high end by legacy brands. We wanted to create a watch that restored the prestige of iconic horological elements — such as the tourbillon complication, forged carbon, or the tonneau-shaped case — while remaining accessible. Too often, collectors are faced with an impossible choice: on one side, flawless and beautiful Swiss pieces that are out of reach; on the other, Asian alternatives with uncertain performance, especially when it comes to tourbillons.
Our bet: combine the best of both worlds. Thanks to our watchmakers in Carouge, Switzerland, we’ve developed a unique method for securing the reliability of foreign tourbillon movements: key component replacements, binocular inspections, strict testing protocols... The result? A technical timepiece with bold design and proven quality, with outstanding return rates. All at a price that finally opens this legendary complication to a new generation of enthusiasts.
We are a young, independent team, driven by purpose, value, and the joy of creation in every piece.
Creative Context
This watch is the result of a groundbreaking collaboration with Ocarat, the leading online watch retailer in France. The idea was born in their offices: imagine a radical version of our iconic XP1 model — pushing our aesthetic to the extreme.
We chose a Musou Black dial — one of the deepest blacks in the world — to create a sense of visual absoluteness. The entire piece is designed to absorb light, so that only one element draws the eye: the tourbillon, staged as a unique, almost supernatural source of light. This theatrical construction is meant to elevate the complexity of the mechanism by turning it into a poetic focal point.
As a finishing touch, one screw on the simple tourbillon bridge is painted black to indicate the seconds on this two-hand movement.
It’s also a subtle nod to our DNA: Blackout is about shadow, contrast, and boldness.
