Manta-X
Power reserve: 38 h, 28800 vph
Inspired by the graceful glide of manta rays through the deep sea, the MANTA-X timepiece embodies a fusion of biomimicry and mechanical aesthetics — a bold exploration of the harmony between nature and technology. With this avant-garde creation, ATOWAK translates the fluid curves of marine life into a complex mechanical structure, redefining the boundaries of functionality and artistic expression.
At the heart of MANTA-X lies the world’s first 180° Hexa-Prism 3D Wandering Hour System, a breakthrough that transcends the limitations of traditional three-arm, four-faced satellite systems. Utilizing a dual-arm, six-faced architecture, the hour display jumps precisely every 15° to mark the passing of each hour — achieving a remarkable enhancement in both spatial readability and horological precision.
Further pushing the boundaries of mechanical innovation, MANTA-X introduces an involute gear system into its wandering hour display — a significant evolution from the conventional Maltese cross mechanism. This design ensures lower friction and superior transmission stability, guaranteeing the accuracy and reliability of the movement even over prolonged operation.
For minute indication, MANTA-X debuts the Tidal Minutes Display System, composed of 13 three-dimensional rotating minute satellites. Every five minutes, adjacent satellites flip alternately in a choreography reminiscent of ocean currents — a dynamic expression of the rhythm of time’s passage.
The case design draws directly from the anatomical form of the manta ray, capturing the curvature of its gill lines and sweeping wingspan. Crafted from Grade 5 titanium using advanced five-axis machining, the case balances strength with lightness. Both the hour and minute displays are protected by separate high-hardness sapphire crystals, each coated with six layers of anti-reflective treatment to enhance clarity and wearability
Inside beats the Sellita SW200 automatic movement, seamlessly integrated with ATOWAK’s proprietary modular complication system — uniting technical complexity with the philosophical elegance of nature-inspired design.
MANTA-X is not merely a timekeeping instrument; it is an artistic exploration of the convergence between the mechanical and the organic. Like the silent glide of a manta ray beneath the waves, it moves quietly upon the wrist — yet stirs the imagination toward a future where nature and innovation are one.
