DISCO ONYX, LAB DIAMONDS
Part of Furlan Marri’s mechanical line, this model joins the existing permanent ‘Disco Volante’ collection.
The heartbeat: Caliber 7001
At the core of the watch is the manually wound Peseux 7001 movement, a hallmark of Swiss watchmaking excellence. This ultra-thin caliber is renowned for its reliability and precision. It was the first movement designed in accordance with traditional watchmaking principles, yet intended for industrialized mass production.
For this collection, Furlan Marri meticulously redesigned the bridges, which now feature hand-finished, diamond-polished edges. The movement also includes a crown wheel and screws that are black-polished and chamfered around the stones. All the beveling is done by hand in Geneva (Meyrin, Switzerland).
At just 2.5mm thick, Caliber 7001 was the ideal choice for this project. Housed in a 38 mm case with rounded shapes and a curved bezel, this new ‘Disco Volante’ is adorned with diamond indexes and an elegant onyx dial.
A dial with a thousand and one sparkles
Set directly into the onyx dial — a semi-precious stone from the chalcedony family — the 0.12-carat baguette-cut diamonds form six delicate hour markers at 2, 4, 8, and 10 o’clock, with a double index at 12. Each one is held in place by a small steel “cage”. True to its commitment to accessibility, the brand opted for laboratory-grown diamonds, a thoughtful choice that ensures quality, purity, durability, and traceability, while offering a more accessible alternative.
The onyx dial gives this new Disco Volante its deep black tones, offering a striking brilliance and reflecting light with remarkable clarity. As night falls, the watch shines even brighter, as the curved hands feature a Super-LumiNova insert that glows with a vibrant blue light. All the indications and texts are double-printed, and a sub-dial at 6 o’clock displays the small seconds.
