Description

JEANRICHARD Manufacture develops precision complications for motor sports and pays tribute to motorbike legend Giacomo Agostini.

Since March 2007, when it launched its partnership with the famous Italian motorbike MV Agusta brand, JEANRICHARD Swiss Watch Manufacture has without interruption restated and proven its commitment to the pulsating world of motor cycling. It was therefore no surprise that the brand concluded a partnership agreement with Giacomo Agostini - nicknamed Ago – who during his seventeen year career has won no less than fifteen world championship titles, ten titles on the Isle of Man and 123 Grand Prix. In the 1960 and 1970's, Agostini became the first great star ever in the world of motor cycling, racing on 350 cc or 500 cc machines; he was the man to beat.

In order to celebrate this exceptional Ambassador, JEANRICHARD this year comes up with a remarkable time-keeper: the Bressel 1665 Chronograph Rattrapante Foudroyante Ago: produced in a limited number of fifty pieces, with either a silver or a black dial, its case is in palladium - a precious metal part of the platinum family - and it is enhanced by a “vintage” brown strap, procuring it a slight rebel masculine look. Fitted with an automatic winding mechanical movement visible through a transparent case-back displaying Ago's signature, the Bressel 1665 Chronograph Rattrapante Foudroyante Ago is one of the most spectacular complications of Haute Horlogerie: a jumping split seconds Chronograph, capable of measuring times accurate to one eighth of a second.

Operation of the “split-second” Chronograph with Foudroyante second:

The Bressel 1665 Chronograph Rattrapante Foudroyante Ago is fitted with two superposed chronograph second hands (a red one and a silver or black one). It can measure several phenomena starting simultaneously but of varying lengths. The two hands are triggered by pressing the push button at 2 o'clock. Pressing the coaxial push button at the end of the first phenomenon stops the fly-back hand so that its elapsed time can be read whilst the other continues to run. Pressing the coaxial push button a second time brings the second fly-back hand underneath the first hand; they then move together. At the end of the second phenomenon, the fly-back hand is stopped again, making it possible to read the second elapsed time. And so on.

At the end of the last noted phenomenon, pressing the push button (start/stop) at 2 o'clock stops both hands, which can then be reset by pressing the push button at 4 o'clock for one second. The Jumper is represented by the red hand on the counter at 9 o'clock and measures the final chronograph time to one eighth of a second. The Jumper hand performs a complete revolution of the counter per second, stopping on one of the eight sections at the end of the recorded phenomenon.
